As of August 8, Alberta is facing a significant wildfire situation with 58 wildfires burning across the province. Eight of these fires are currently out of control.

Firefighters from Alberta and beyond, including those from British Columbia, New Zealand, and Australia, are working hard to combat these blazes.

If you're in Alberta, it's crucial to stay updated on evacuation orders. The Municipal District of Opportunity No. 17 has an evacuation order in effect for Chipewyan Lake. For the most current updates, visit www.alberta.ca/emergency.

Make sure to download the Alberta Emergency Alert app to receive immediate notifications about any emergencies.

Remember, fire advisories and restrictions are in place, especially in Fort McMurray and Lac La Biche areas, where certain wood fires are banned. Always adhere to fire bans and report any smoke or flames to 310-FIRE.

Lastly, check the air quality updates if you’re planning to spend time outdoors. Even if you see smoke, it doesn't mean a fire is close to your area. Stay safe, Alberta!
