As our brave men and women from the Canadian Armed Forces and public safety sectors hang up their uniforms, the transition to civilian life can be challenging. We're talking about incredible individuals who have dedicated their lives to protecting our communities and our country. That’s why Alberta’s government is stepping up to help them smooth the path into rewarding civilian careers.

The Alberta government is investing a whopping $1.2 million into the Forces@WORK program, created by Prospect Human Services. This initiative offers specialized support tailored for veterans and public safety personnel. Whether you're a firefighter, paramedic, or police officer, this program helps you gain the skills necessary to land meaningful employment that reflects your past service.

Transitioning from the military to civilian life doesn't just involve finding a job; it’s about overcoming personal and professional challenges, including adjusting to a work environment that might be very different from what you’re used to. The Forces@WORK program is designed with all of this in mind. Participants receive personalized assessments and support, ensuring their unique experiences and goals are addressed.

From peer support and career planning to resume writing and interview prep, Forces@WORK has it covered. They also offer on-the-job training and ongoing assistance to help secure long-term employment. It’s all about ensuring that veterans and public safety personnel can find fulfilling work, tapping into the impressive skill sets they've honed throughout their careers.

As one veteran remarked, this program can be life-changing. Many former military and public safety personnel worry that their skills won’t translate to civilian jobs. But Forces@WORK serves as a beacon of hope, proving that their experiences are indeed valuable.

Let’s give a huge shout-out to our heroes as they embark on this new chapter. If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, don’t hesitate to reach out!
