How to Sponsor Your Parents and Grandparents for Canadian Immigration
Are you a Canadian citizen or permanent resident dreaming of bringing your parents or grandparents to live with you? Starting on July 28, the Canadian government will send out invitations to apply (ITAs) for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP)! This is your chance to reunite with your loved ones!
Here’s what you need to know:
Who Can Apply?
To receive an ITA this year, you should have submitted a complete interest-to-sponsor form back in 2020 and did not receive an ITA in the last few intake years. A total of 17,860 ITAs will be issued in hopes of accepting 10,000 applications.
The Application Process:
If you're invited, you'll have two applications to handle:
- Sponsorship Application: You apply to sponsor your parents or grandparents.
- Permanent Residence Application: Your loved ones apply to become permanent residents.
Don’t forget to complete all required forms and pay the necessary fees. The starting fee for the PGP is typically around $1,205.
Once you’ve submitted your application, keep an eye on your email for updates, and make sure to keep all your information current. Let's bring your family closer!
