Every year, Saskatchewan takes a moment to celebrate its wonderful seniors during Seniors' Week, which runs from September 28 to October 4. This special week recognizes the invaluable contributions made by older adults across our province.

As Seniors Minister Lori Carr highlights, Saskatchewan seniors are an engaged and vibrant part of our community. Our government is dedicated to making sure that older residents have access to high-quality programs and services that enhance their lives.

This year, the budget includes a boost of $7.1 million aimed at improving home and care services for everyone—from seniors to children with complex medical needs. This investment will also support long-term care facilities in cities like Saskatoon, allowing patients to transition back into the community.

Additionally, starting April 1, a total of $23 million will expand coverage for Continuous and Flash Glucose Monitors for seniors aged 65 and older. These advanced devices help diabetics easily track their glucose levels, promoting better health and safety.

With a new Personal Care Home Benefit and increased support through the Seniors Income Plan, our seniors are being provided with even more assistance. Plus, services like free home nursing care, subsidized home care, and affordable long-term care are here to help them stay independent.

Don’t forget about the Senior Citizens’ Ambulance Assistance Program, which caps ambulance trips at just $135 for seniors, while offering free inter-facility transfers. And with the Seniors’ Drug Plan, prescription medications are capped at $25. These initiatives ensure our seniors receive the care they need at a manageable cost.
