Big Changes in Quebec Family Sponsorship

Hey there, Quebec families! We have some important news that could affect how you sponsor your loved ones. As of July 22, 2025, Quebec's immigration ministry has announced that they've reached the cap on applications for sponsoring parents, grandparents, and some other relatives.

This cap means that from now until June 25, 2026, any additional applications submitted will be returned without processing, and the fees will be refunded. So, what does this mean for you? Well, the total cap was set at 13,000 applications: 10,400 for spouses and older children, and 2,600 for parents and grandparents.

While the cap for sponsoring spouses, common-law partners, and dependent kids over 18 was reached earlier, you can still submit applications for dependent children under 18 and those dependent due to a disability. Plus, if you've already submitted an application, you can still add dependents to it!

If you’re looking to get family members legal status in Quebec, we recommend booking a free consultation to discuss your options.

Exciting news is also around the corner! The federal government's Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) is about to send out invitations for sponsorship from July 28, 2025. Keep your eyes peeled!
