A Bright New Beginning: Nįtélazёtúë Elementary School Opens in La Loche
Exciting news for the community of La Loche! Today, students, teachers, and leaders came together to celebrate the grand opening of Nįtélazёtúë Elementary School. This brand-new building is a wonderful addition right next to Dene High School, welcoming around 475 eager learners from Prekindergarten to Grade 6.
Premier Scott Moe shared his excitement, stating, “This new school is an investment in the next generation.” And it truly is! With 26 classrooms, student support services, a library, and even a cooking kitchen, Nįtélazёtúë Elementary is all set to provide a modern and enriching environment.
Education Minister Everett Hindley emphasized how this school not only boosts education in La Loche but also fosters a culturally-rich atmosphere for students. It's a fantastic space tailored to help children learn and grow.
Moreover, the school features a Specialized Support Classroom to offer targeted support, ensuring every student has the tools they need to thrive. As SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister David Marit mentioned, this investment isn’t just about a building; it’s about creating opportunities for the future.
After construction began in February 2023, this $44.75 million project, complemented by community and private support, reflects local culture and nature. It replaces an old facility that served the community for nearly 50 years, marking a new era for education in La Loche.
Let’s celebrate this beautiful new school that symbolizes hope and success for future generations!
