New Classrooms Coming to Alberta Schools!
Exciting news for students and families in Alberta! The provincial government is diving in with a robust investment of $50 million to add 62 new pre-made classrooms this fall. With enrollment on the rise, this initiative aims to ensure every child has a space to learn and thrive.
This funding kicks off a larger plan originating from Budget 2025 commitments, totaling $100 million for 109 modular classrooms. That means space for over 2,725 students! Alongside that, 575 current students will get a new spot that fits their needs.
“Alberta is fast-tracking school projects to accommodate our growing student population,” says a government spokesperson. This could be a game-changer for busy schools waiting for more room to support their students!
Rocky View Schools are particularly excited about these modular additions as they work hard to deal with record enrollment numbers. They’re committed to collaborating with the government to ensure classroom growth keeps up with the number of students.
Not only that, but Alberta is also investing $1 million into four exciting new charter schools. This funding will help finalize details like class sizes and programming needs, offering even more options for families. When completed, these schools will add over 2,400 new student spaces!
Looking ahead, the government is also providing $610,000 to help plan for 13 potential future school projects. This early funding is crucial for setting priorities and ensuring the right facilities are in place for students in the coming years.
Through its Schools Now program, Alberta continues to make big strides in the education sector with a whopping $8.6 billion investment to build and modernize schools, ultimately creating over 200,000 new student spaces. That’s a significant step forward in ensuring all Alberta students have access to quality education close to home!
