ASIRT Police Incident RCMP Whitehorse Witness Appeal

On June 24, 2025, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) began looking into a troubling incident involving the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Whitehorse. This investigation was sparked by an arrest that led to injuries for a male suspect.

It all started on June 23 when the RCMP received multiple reports about a man entering people's yards uninvited. While patrolling, officers found someone matching the description and tried to make an arrest. However, the man resisted and tried to escape. Unfortunately, during the struggle, he sustained injuries that included a broken bone.

Four officers were involved, and two of them are now subject officers in the investigation. The RCMP has shared body camera footage of the arrest with ASIRT to aid in the inquiry.

If you were in the area and saw anything, ASIRT wants to hear from you! They’re particularly interested in any cell phone or dash cam videos that could help illuminate the events. You can reach them at 780-644-1483.
