Investing in Growth: G.S. Dunn Expands Mustard Milling in Alberta
Exciting news from Alberta! G.S. Dunn Limited is investing a whopping $30 million to expand its mustard milling facility in Bow Island! This project isn't just good for the company—it's creating 34 new jobs and opening doors in two fresh markets: Japan and South Korea. Talk about growth!
Thanks to support from the Alberta government in the form of a $3.1 million Agri-Processing Investment Tax Credit (APITC), this expansion means G.S. Dunn will be purchasing raw mustard seeds worth an incredible $44 million. And the best part? All the seeds come right from western Canada!
The APITC is a fantastic program that offers 12% in tax credits for businesses investing $10 million or more in expanding processing facilities. This initiative is all about boosting investment, diversifying the economy, and creating more jobs for the community.
Since its initial expansion, G.S. Dunn has increased its capacity by over 200%. The current phase aims for a further 70% increase in processing capacity compared to earlier levels. As a company with more than 150 years of experience, G.S. Dunn is now the largest supplier of milled mustard products globally, serving over 130 customers in more than 70 countries!
So, why does Alberta continue to attract investors? It’s simple—great business opportunities! If you're interested in agri-processing or just curious about what’s happening in Alberta, keep an eye on G.S. Dunn and the APITC program for more developments!
