Exciting Short-Term Elk Hunt in Southern Saskatchewan
Exciting Short-Term Elk Hunt in Southern Saskatchewan
Attention all hunting enthusiasts! A unique opportunity is just around the corner in Southern Saskatchewan. From November 20 to 27, a short-term hunt for antlerless elk is set to take place. This special initiative aims to balance the needs of farmers and hunters alike.
The government acknowledges the challenges faced by agricultural producers due to elk damage to crops. Environment Minister Travis Keisig stated, "This hunt aims to address the conflict between elk and agricultural producers and landowners." In a way, it’s a win-win situation!
If you’re looking to participate, you can purchase your antlerless elk licence starting November 3 for just $30 (GST included). While there’s no limit on the number of licenses, you’ll need to pick one wildlife management zone to hunt in.
Getting your licence online through the Hunting, Angling and Trapping Licence (HAL system) is the easiest route. Plus, if you were successful in the regular Big Game Draw, you can grab this additional licence!
Remember: Landowners play a crucial role in this program. Their openness to hunters allows for better wildlife management and helps protect crops. So let’s all work together!
