Great news for Albertans with disabilities! The Alberta government is launching a brand new program called the Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP) in January 2025. This exciting initiative is designed with your unique needs in mind, moving away from the one-size-fits-all approach of the previous Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) program.

The ADAP aims to empower you to find fulfilling job opportunities while still receiving the support you need. You won’t have to choose between getting the help you require and pursuing your career dreams!

With ADAP, you can earn more from your job without losing your financial benefits. Plus, you’ll still have access to essential health benefits, regardless of your employment income. This means more freedom to pursue the job you love while keeping the safety net you rely on.

The Alberta government values your input! From August 13 to September 12, participate in a public survey where you can share your thoughts and feedback on the new program. Join discussions through virtual town halls, or review materials available online. Your voice is essential in shaping a program that truly meets your needs.
