Starting on February 2, 2026, health care aides will be officially regulated under a professional college. This means more support and better standards for both workers and those receiving care!

The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta will expand its role to include health care aides as well. If you’re already a health care aide, don’t worry! If you meet the requirements, you’ll automatically be enrolled in the new health care aide register.
