Ending Family Violence: Alberta's Commitment to Healthy Relationships
Family violence can deeply affect individuals and communities, but there's hope! Alberta's government is stepping up with a whopping $4 million investment this year to support 29 agencies working on 31 projects aimed at addressing the roots of family violence.
These initiatives are more than just funding; they’re about teaching essential prevention strategies and nurturing healthy relationships through educational programs, sports activities, mentoring, support groups, and more. The focus is on helping everyone, including Indigenous Peoples, vulnerable groups, and newcomers to Alberta.
As one supporter said, “Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home and community.” By equipping families with skills and support, they aim to stop violence before it begins, leading to stronger and healthier communities.
The provincial government is providing these funds through two grant programs, ensuring a collaborative approach to tackling family violence, and it aligns with Alberta's 10-Year Strategy to End Gender-Based Violence.
