The 5th World Conference of Women’s Shelters is just around the corner, and Alberta is taking part in this global dialogue aimed at supporting families experiencing violence. The conference is a fantastic opportunity to learn from experts worldwide about effective policies and practices that make a real difference.

Our commitment in Alberta is clear: we want every family facing violence to have access to safe, responsive support. By engaging with international leaders at this conference in Sydney, Australia, we can share our experiences and learn from others, enhancing our approach to women’s shelters.

Did you know that over 1,000 delegates from more than 100 countries will be in attendance? This includes around 100 representatives from Canada, all eager to exchange ideas and strategies for prevention and support. Alberta even hosted the very first conference back in 2008!

With the minister's attendance, we’re not just showcasing our initiatives; we're also seeking innovative solutions to take back home. Together with our allies in Australia, we can foster collaboration that strengthens our services.
