Empowering Indigenous Policing in Alberta
Empowering Indigenous Policing in Alberta
Alberta is making strides in community safety by boosting Indigenous-led policing efforts! A key part of the province's commitment is supporting the Blood Tribe Police Service, one of Canada's longest-serving Indigenous police forces.
Built in 1990, the current Blood Tribe police station has served its time, and it's time for an upgrade! The new and improved facility will feature modern amenities to help officers serve the community better, from secure evidence storage to dedicated interview spaces.
The Alberta government is dedicated to ensuring every community feels safe. With an investment of $30.9 million aimed specifically at boosting police services in First Nations communities, this initiative is about more than just infrastructure—it’s about empowerment and self-determination.
The Blood Tribe leadership has been working hard to secure this vital funding, and they are excited about the positive impact this new station will have on community safety. As the saying goes, “Every community deserves to feel safe,” and this investment is a step in the right direction!
