Saskatchewan Community Support Diversity Disability Employment

October is a special month in Saskatchewan! It’s been officially proclaimed as Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) in partnership with the Saskatchewan Association of Rehabilitation Centres (SARC). This means it’s time to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions that individuals with disabilities make to businesses and communities across our province!

Deputy Premier and Minister of Immigration and Career Training, Jim Reiter, expressed his pride in supporting the work of SARC. He noted that DEAM reminds us of the importance of having a diverse workforce. It’s not just about fairness; it’s about what people with disabilities bring to the table!

This month, let’s spotlight the initiatives in place to help many individuals with disabilities enter and thrive in the workforce. The Saskatchewan Labour Market Strategy is working hard to enhance job opportunities and support programs for the disability community.

SARC’s Executive Director, Amy McNeil, highlighted the economic benefits of hiring a diverse workforce. Employers who tap into this skilled pool gain not only talented employees but also enrich their work culture.

For anyone looking for job assistance, the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training is here to help! They provide career planning, employment services, and training access for in-demand jobs. You can reach them at 1-833-613-0485 or email saskjobs@gov.sk.ca.

Let’s celebrate and support Disability Employment Awareness Month together!
