Denare Beach Residents Move into Temporary Housing!
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) has some exciting news for Denare Beach residents! After a tough time following the Wolf Fire, they're about to move into their new temporary housing units.
Just this past week, residents completed walk-throughs of these safe, affordable homes. They’re signing leases and getting their keys, ready to settle in for the winter!
Since the temporary housing plan was rolled out in September, the community has been hard at work completing the clean-up of affected properties. The Denare Beach Council expressed their gratitude for the support received, especially from the town of Creighton. This partnership has allowed for the setup of 26 temporary housing units, with an additional five on the way, ensuring everyone who needs shelter can find it.
But it doesn’t stop there! The Canadian Red Cross is also providing Personalized Recovery Support and mental health resources for those affected. Recently, a social wellness session helped connect residents with valuable information on available services.
Minister Tim McLeod highlighted the strength and resilience of the Denare Beach community, celebrating their progress amidst challenges.
Cleanup is nearly complete on the 218 lots impacted by the fire, with over half already backfilled. It’s a significant milestone for the village!
