Community Safety Takes Center Stage in Olds, Alberta!
Big news for residents of Olds, Alberta! The Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) unit has just secured an important court order to close down a problematic property at 5222 42 Street for 90 days. This decision comes as a huge relief to locals who have been affected by illegal activities in the area.
Starting from October 7th, all individuals, including the property owner, must vacate the premises. Why is this important? Well, the court order prevents anyone from accessing the property until January 5, 2026. The SCAN team is committed to keeping the neighborhood safe and will be monitoring the site closely throughout this period.
Thanks to collaborative efforts with the local RCMP, issues tied to this property, which posed risks to community spaces like playgrounds, will finally be addressed. As SCAN’s work continues, they remind all Albertans to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their areas.
Since 2008, the SCAN unit has tackled over 10,000 properties and issued more than 135 community safety orders. Most importantly, they emphasize working with property owners to eliminate illegal activities peacefully.
Join us in looking forward to a safer community in Olds!
