Diving into the numbers, small businesses in Saskatchewan have grown by nearly 5% over the past decade, resulting in over 154,000 small businesses across the province. That's a remarkable rate of 124 small businesses for every 1,000 people, making Saskatchewan one of the top provinces in Canada for small business density!
As Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding mentioned, “Small businesses are the heartbeat of our provincial economy.” These businesses not only provide jobs for over 30% of the workforce but also enrich our communities with essential products and services. They are indeed vital!
With 98.8% of all businesses in Saskatchewan falling into the small business category, they contribute significantly by paying out close to $7.8 billion in wages. Each small business has its own unique story of hard work and determination that fuels our province's economic growth.
