Celebrating the New Saskatchewan Ballistics Lab!

Exciting news for Saskatchewan! Today marks the official opening of the new Saskatchewan Ballistics Laboratory, a facility set to revolutionize how we handle firearms-related investigations throughout the province.

With a significant investment of nearly $3.35 million from the Government of Saskatchewan, this state-of-the-art lab is equipped with advanced technology. From a controlled testing MILO Range to cutting-edge analysis tools like BrassTrax, the lab is designed to provide law enforcement with the support they need.

Previously operating from a temporary site, the lab has already helped conduct over 900 firearm examinations since it began operations. This new permanent location will not only streamline investigations but significantly reduce wait times for testing from months to just days!

Minister of Corrections, Policing, and Public Safety, Tim McLeod, emphasized the importance of this lab in securing safe communities, saying, “Our government is committed to providing law enforcement with the tools and expertise they need.”

The grand opening was attended by various police representatives and signifies a strong commitment to public safety and collaboration.
