Hey there! If you’re considering immigrating to Canada through the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) or the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot (FCIP), there’s some important news you need to know.

As of July 29, 2025, the minimum amount of settlement funds you need will increase. So, if you’re planning to apply, make sure you're aware of the new requirements!

For an individual, the required funds will rise from $7,963 to $10,507, marking a 31.94% jump. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you’ll need based on your family size:

  • 1 member: $10,507
  • 2 members: $13,080
  • 3 members: $16,080
  • 4 members: $19,524
  • 5 members: $22,143
  • 6 members: $24,975
  • 7 members: $27,806
  • Each additional member: $2,831

And don’t forget! When figuring out your family size, include yourself, your spouse or common-law partner, and any dependent children. Even if they’re Canadian citizens or won’t be traveling with you, they still count.

When you apply, you'll need to show proof of funds. This could be through bank statements, drafts, or cheques. And remember, you'll need to have this money available both when you apply and when your permanent resident visa is issued.

The RCIP and FCIP aim to support employers in rural areas of Canada by addressing labor shortages. You'll need a job offer from a designated employer in a participating community and meet all eligibility criteria concerning education, experience, language skills, and settlement funds. And if you're applying for the FCIP, French language skills are a must!

If you meet the requirements, you can apply for permanent residency directly with the federal government and also get a work permit while your application is being processed.

Excited about your future in Canada? Make sure to keep these changes in mind!
