Hey there, caregivers! We have some significant news regarding Canada’s Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots (HCWP) that you should know about. The “applicants not working in Canada” stream is now officially closed as of September 29, 2025. Unfortunately, this means that if you’re outside Canada and hoping to apply, you won’t be able to do so under this stream.

Originally, this stream was set to include options for both Home Support and Child Care, but it never opened for applications. But don't lose hope just yet!

There are still other pathways available for caregivers outside of Canada. For instance, if you're a Nurse aide, orderly, or patient service associate (NOC 33102), the Express Entry system is still a great option for you. The latest Express Entry healthcare draw had a cut-off score of 470, and you're among those eligible for consideration!

Additionally, many Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are still welcoming applications for caregivers under specific NOC codes. Programs like the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program, Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program, and New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program are looking for skilled workers like you!

While we’re still waiting to understand the reasons behind this stream's closure, it appears the IRCC is focusing on reducing its backlog of applications and prioritizing those already living in Canada.

If you're a caregiver considering Canada as your next home, keep exploring those other immigration options—there’s always a path forward!
