On November 12, 2025, the Government of Saskatchewan announced a $6.8 million grant to the City of Regina as part of the Municipal Police Grants program. This funding will support 49 police positions across the city, enhancing overall safety and security.
Here's the exciting part: This investment will not only increase police visibility but also tackle serious issues like online child exploitation and drug trafficking. For instance, three positions will focus on the Internet Child Exploitation program, while nine will join the Crime Reduction Team to combat drug-related crimes and gather crucial intelligence.
Regina Mayor Chad Bachynski expressed gratitude for this investment, highlighting its importance in meeting the community's evolving needs. He stated, "This funding strengthens our ability to respond to the evolving needs of our community... and build a safer, more resilient Regina for everyone."
And get this: The Government of Saskatchewan has been providing financial support through the Municipal Police Grants program since 1998. This year alone, they are funding around 160 police positions across nine municipalities in Saskatchewan!
So, what does this mean for you? It means a brighter, safer future for Regina. With more resources dedicated to public safety, you can feel more secure in your community. Let's celebrate the steps being taken to protect the residents and create a nurturing environment for families to thrive!
