Boosting Youth Employment in Alberta: A New Initiative!
Boosting Youth Employment in Alberta: A New Initiative!
Hey there, young Albertans! We're excited to share some great news that could change your job-hunting journey. Alberta's government has introduced an amazing new program called the Alberta Youth Employment Incentive. With a budget of $8 million, this initiative aims to support young job seekers aged 15 to 24 by providing grants to employers.
Why does this matter? Because youth unemployment in Alberta is on the rise, currently sitting at 17%. This program not only helps young people get hired but also gives them the necessary training and experience to spark their careers!
Starting in October 2025, if employers hire you and a couple of your friends (1-2 young workers), they could receive a $4,000 grant. Or, if they hire 3-5 of you for a combined total of 750 hours, they might get $7,500! Not to mention, Alberta's government will help cover $10 of your hourly wage – making hiring you even more attractive for businesses!
And here's another cool part! There's a digital badge for young workers who complete at least 200 hours and pass an assessment. You can showcase this badge on your resume, proving you've gained valuable skills in the workplace.
So, if you're ready to dive into the job market and make your mark, keep your eyes peeled for this opportunity. Let's get those applications rolling and build a stronger Alberta together!
