Stay Safe: Alberta Wildfire Update
Stay Safe: Alberta Wildfire Update
As of July 17, there are currently 58 wildfires burning across Alberta's Forest Protection Area, with 14 classified as out of control. It's crucial for residents to stay informed about these fires and the safety measures in place.
Right now, over 1,500 firefighters are working hard to combat these wildfires. These brave souls are using heavy equipment, air tankers, helicopters, and even night vision devices to keep our communities safe. Firefighters have come from all over, including places like Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Australia, and Costa Rica.
If you're in Alberta, it's essential to keep track of evacuation orders and alerts. You can find updates on evacuation orders at www.alberta.ca/emergency. The Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council recently lifted evacuation orders for Peerless Lake and Trout Lake, but residents should remain prepared for any changes.
Make sure to download the Alberta Emergency Alert mobile app for immediate updates on any alerts!
Let's work together to prevent new fires: always follow fire bans and report any smoke or flames by calling 310-FIRE. Remember, understanding FireSmart principles can help protect your home.
