Hey there, fellow nature lovers! 🌱 Did you know that Alberta just announced an exciting new funding initiative? With $3.5 million open for grabs, this program is designed to restore and protect watersheds all across our beautiful province.

These healthy watersheds are super important! They help manage water flow during storms, ensure we have enough water during droughts, and create vibrant ecosystems for all living things. This new funding will support one city, two counties, and a whopping 17 non-profits in stabilizing riverbanks and improving how water moves through our landscape.

According to local government officials, investing in our watersheds means we’re also looking out for future generations. Not only does this funding aim to clean our water and support our ecosystems, but it also enhances community safety against floods and droughts!

Projects will vary from enhancing urban riverbanks in Calgary’s Elbow River to providing students in Medicine Hat with hands-on experience in bioengineering. Plus, there's good news for homeowners in Lethbridge—this funding will help them create water-wise landscaping, leading to better water conservation!

The great part? Applications are still open! If you're part of a non-profit, Indigenous community, or municipality, you can apply for more funding until September 15, 2025. Together, let's make Alberta a greener, more resilient place!
