Mark Your Calendar: Alberta Concussion Awareness Day
Hey everyone! We are excited to announce that Alberta's government has joined hands with the Sport Medicine Council of Alberta to celebrate Alberta Concussion Awareness Day on September 24, 2025. This special day aims to raise awareness and promote safe practices concerning concussions, something that affects many people across our province.
Did you know that every day, 41 Albertans suffer from concussions? This is particularly common among our youth aged 10 to 24. Many of these incidents go unnoticed or unreported, so awareness is key!
The motto is simple: “The best concussion is the one that doesn’t happen.” We all share the responsibility of understanding concussion signs and symptoms. Coaches, players, and health professionals can play vital roles in recognizing and dealing with concussions.
By coming together as a community, we can help reduce the long-term effects of concussions. Let’s educate ourselves—because knowledge truly is power!
From falls to sports injuries and car accidents, concussions can happen anywhere, anytime. This Alberta Concussion Awareness Day, let's unite in creating a culture of safety and awareness!
