Hey there, fellow farm enthusiasts! Let’s take a moment to catch up on this week’s crop report that covers the period from September 23 to September 29, 2025. With warm and dry weather, farmers have made remarkable strides in harvest this week.

Exciting news—84% of this year’s crops are now in the barn! That’s a 16% jump from last week. While we’re still a tad behind the five-year average of 92%, we’re ahead of the ten-year average of 81%—not too shabby!

Harvest numbers are trending positively across all regions. The southwest is leading at 87% complete, closely followed by west central and northwest regions, both at 86%. The southeast region has reached 84%, and the northeast is at 83%. East-central is just slightly behind at 80%.

Winter wheat, fall rye, and triticale have all been successfully harvested. Even excitingly, peas are at 99% and lentils at 98%! Spring wheat is at 92%, durum at 91%, and oats at 87%. Meanwhile, canola has reached 71%, but there’s still some work to do with chickpeas, which are at 56% gone!

It hasn't rained much this week, with the largest amounts found in Meadow Lake at 13mm. Unfortunately, topsoil moisture levels are dropping, with half of the cropland reported as only adequate.

We’ve also heard concerns from livestock producers, with some facing shortages in water supplies and quality due to dry conditions. It’s crucial for farmers to regularly clean machinery to prevent fires; let’s not underestimate this safety tip!
