This week, from September 21 to 27, Saskatchewan proudly celebrates Transportation Week, a time dedicated to appreciating the people who keep our roads, highways, and railways running smoothly.

Highways Minister David Marit highlights that Saskatchewan boasts the largest per capita highway network in all of Canada! This network is crucial for connecting communities and supporting our economy, while also ensuring residents can access vital services. A big thank you goes out to everyone involved in making our transportation system safe and efficient.

The Saskatoon Transportation Club President, John Trumpy, also acknowledges the hard work of logistics professionals who keep goods and services moving not just within Saskatchewan, but across our entire country and beyond. Their efforts are truly invaluable!

With a budget of $777 million allocated for the 2025-26 period, the Ministry of Highways is investing in major projects like twinning Highway 39 in Weyburn and improving Highway 5. These enhancements are essential for improving our transportation infrastructure.

Furthermore, if you need road information, the Highway Hotline is at your service! It provides up-to-date details about construction zones, closures, and other important travel alerts at hotline.gov.sk.ca.

Let’s appreciate our hardworking transportation professionals this week and beyond!
