Join us in celebrating the incredible women of Saskatchewan this October!

October is a special month in Saskatchewan as we recognize Women's History Month! It's a time for all of us to honor the fearless women who paved the way for future generations in our province and country.

Alana Ross, the Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, reminds us, "We owe a great deal of thanks to the women in Saskatchewan who broke barriers, made history, and changed the world through perseverance and immense effort." Let's take a moment to reflect on their contributions and impact.

Did you know that Women's History Month was first proclaimed in Canada back in 1992? It marks the historic decision by Canada's highest court in 1929 to recognize women in the legal definition of persons—such a monumental change!

This year, as we celebrate, let’s also remember the trailblazers from our own province. Meet Sarah Ramsland, the first female MLA in Saskatchewan, and Sylvia Fedoruk, our very first female lieutenant-governor, who was also a medical physicist. Their legacies remind us of the importance of women’s voices in shaping our history.

Let’s make an effort this month to highlight these stories, uplift women's voices, and understand just how far we’ve come, and how much further we can go together!
