Exciting News for Immigrants: More Opportunities in the Northwest Territories!
The Northwest Territories is buzzing with excitement as it has received an extra 47 nominations for its Nominee Program (NTNP) this year! This increases the total nominations to 197, up from the original 150 spots for 2025.
On September 2, 2025, the Government of the Northwest Territories made this great announcement. This means more chances for eligible applicants from the 2025 intake period who may have missed out before. If you’re one of those hopeful candidates, keep an eye on your email for updates on your application status!
Caitlin Cleveland, the Northwest Territories Minister of Education, Culture and Employment, emphasized that these new spaces are key to tackling labor shortages in important sectors. This is a golden opportunity for those looking to make their mark in Canada.
Curious about how to apply? The NTNP has three main application streams: the Employer-Driven stream, the Francophone stream, and the Business stream. Each stream has its unique requirements, so you can find out what suits you best.
In the Employer-Driven stream, you’ll need a job offer from a NWT employer, which means they will apply on your behalf. However, if you’re interested in the Francophone or Business streams, you can submit your application directly!
2025 will have two intake periods for applications: the first runs from February 27 to March 6, and the second from July 2 to July 9. It’s essential to mark your calendars and take action in these windows!
Even though the nominations for 2025 were cut down compared to the previous year, many provinces are keen on expanding their nominations, so there’s still hope for many aspiring immigrants!
