Important Update for Canadian Permanent Residency Applicants!

New rules for Canadian PR! Learn about the upfront Immigration Medical Exam requirement.
Canada Immigration Express Entry Permanent Residency

Hey there! If you're considering applying for permanent residence in Canada through the Express Entry system, there’s a crucial update you need to know about as of August 21!

From now on, new applicants must complete an upfront Immigration Medical Exam (IME) before submitting their application. But don’t worry—some candidates might be exempt from this requirement based on specific conditions.

So, what does this mean for you? First off, if you’ve had an IME in the past five years that showed you as low risk to Canada's public health, and you already live in Canada, you might not need to take a new exam.

If you have received an invitation to apply (ITA) for your PR, it’s important to do the IME as part of your application process. Remember, IMEs are valid for 12 months from the exam date, and everyone in your immediate family must complete one too.

Wondering who can conduct your IME? Only IRCC-approved panel physicians can do it, and they'll send your results directly to IRCC.

After completing your IME, you’ll receive proof to attach to your PR application. If you have past IME results that qualify you for exemption, make sure to include the relevant documents.

If you’re unsure about your IME results and your application, IRCC will guide you on the next steps. Stay informed and best of luck with your application!
