At the ceremony, you'll have the honor of singing the national anthem, taking the oath of citizenship, and signing the Oath or Affirmation of Citizenship form. And voilà! You’ll receive your Canadian citizenship certificate to celebrate this huge milestone.

The ceremony can happen in-person at a local Immigration office or virtually from the comfort of your home. Your invitation will provide all the details, including the date, how to attend, and what you need to bring.

Don’t forget to bring your ceremony invitation, your PR card (even if it’s expired!), and two pieces of ID. If you’re taking part in a virtual ceremony, make sure to have a working camera and microphone ready!

During the event, you’ll also learn the oath you need to recite. It’s a moment filled with pride, so practice it in a way that feels comfortable for you. And if you’re under 14, you’re not required to take the oath, but it’s encouraged to have supportive family members around to help you.
