Alberta Family Support Parent Payment Program School Disruption

Hey there, Alberta families! We know that navigating child care costs during unforeseen school disruptions can be tough. That's why we're excited to share news about the Parent Payment Program from the Government of Alberta!

Starting on October 14, families with children aged 12 and under can apply for $30 per day for each student affected by ongoing labor action. This support is designed to ease some of the extra costs while your kids are at home, covering expenses related to child care, tutoring, or fun learning activities.

But there's even more! If your family has a child with an active Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) agreement, you could receive an additional $30 per child per school day. This means you could get up to $300 a week for your little ones!

To get ready, log into your verified Alberta.ca Account and head to the Parent Payment Portal. Make sure you have your child’s FSCD File ID handy for those additional benefits.

Payments will be issued monthly, starting October 31, and will be retroactive to October 6. Remember, these funds are non-taxable and will not affect any existing benefits, so you can rest easy!
