On November 11, 2025, a tragic event unfolded that has left many in the community searching for answers. A five-year-old child was reportedly assaulted, leading to the arrest of a 35-year-old male. But here's the thing: what happened next is raising serious concerns.
After a physical struggle during his arrest, the man was taken to the Saskatoon Police Service headquarters. Once there, another struggle ensued, and he was placed in a cell. Almost immediately, he was observed in medical distress. Despite attempts at life-saving measures, he was pronounced deceased shortly after.
This incident has prompted the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) to step in and investigate. They will examine everything from the arrest to the conduct of the police involved. And get this: a community liaison will also be appointed to ensure transparency throughout the process.
