Read moreHey there, future Canadian students! If you're thinking about studying in Canada, there’s some important news you need to know about study permits.
The Canadian government has set a cap on study permit applications for 2025 at 550,162. So, what does this mean for you? From January 22 to December 31, 2025, the government will only process permits until this number is reached. If you're applying after the cap has been hit, your application will be returned, and your fees will be refunded. Yikes!
But don’t worry! Not everyone is caught in this cap. If you’re renewing your study permit, applying as an exchange student, or covered by some special circumstances, you might be exempt.
And remember, the cap reflects applications that will be considered, not necessarily those that will be approved. The government aims to welcome over 305,900 new international students each year through 2027. However, the actual approval numbers aren’t set in stone just yet.
Stay tuned for updates, and good luck with your studies!
