Discover how new trends in Canada’s rental market can benefit you as a newcomer!
Read moreHave you ever dreamed of working in the vibrant province of Quebec? Imagine waking up to a new adventure, immersing yourself in culture, and making a life in a place that feels like home. But here’s the catch: starting December 17, 2025, you’ll need to brush up on your French!
What’s changing? Foreign workers with three or more years of experience will need to demonstrate a certain level of spoken French—specifically, level 4 on the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) scale. This requirement is aimed at helping newcomers incorporate smoothly into Quebec's Francophone society.
But don’t worry too much if you’re already in Quebec when these changes roll out! You’ll get a grace period until December 17, 2028, to meet the French requirement. In the meantime, you can still apply for the Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) to extend your work permit without needing to meet this new language bar right away.
Let’s say you’re considering how to improve your French. Taking classes, engaging in conversation groups, or even watching French films can make the process enjoyable and less daunting. And get this: mastering the local language can lead to better job opportunities and deeper connections in the community!
This is more than just a requirement; it's an opportunity to embrace Quebec's unique culture and be part of its future. So, as you plan your journey, keep that motivation high. Your new life in Quebec is waiting, and every word you learn brings you closer to achieving your dream.
