Exciting Leadership Change at Assisted Living Alberta!

Exciting news for Alberta! After a thorough search, Gord Johnston has been named the new CEO of Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) starting August 1. With a rich background in public service and affordable housing, Gord is committed to ensuring better care for all Albertans.

Before joining ALA, he excelled as CEO of Civida, the largest affordable housing provider in Northern Alberta. His passion for serving the community is evident, having previously held significant roles in the public sector for over 25 years.

“Gord’s dedication and compassion make him the perfect fit for ALA,” said a representative. His aim is straightforward: to build an amazing assisted living system, expanding services that cater to everyone in need.

Dr. Sayeh Zielke, who admirable led ALA as interim CEO, will now serve as executive chair of the board. Her leadership was instrumental during the establishment of ALA, and she’s eager to support Gord and continue making a difference.

Looking ahead, by 2025, ALA will provide comprehensive continuing care, ensuring that older adults and vulnerable populations receive the medical and non-medical support they need to thrive. This is not just about health; it’s about enhancing the quality of life for all Albertans!
