Saskatchewan Prepares for Postal Disruption
Saskatchewan Prepares for Postal Disruption
The Government of Saskatchewan is gearing up for the recent postal strike announced by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers on September 25, 2025. They have put in place reliable contingency plans to ensure that essential services continue smoothly.
Residents are encouraged to switch to direct deposit for any payments. This change could save you time and hassle during the postal disruption since payments made through direct deposit will remain unaffected.
For those receiving Social Services benefits, most payments are already sent via direct deposit, so you won’t need to worry. If you usually get your cheques in the mail, starting September 29, you can pick them up in person at service centres across the province.
Additionally, if you need letters for private insurance claims, those can still be requested online, and they will be processed once the postal issue is resolved.
It’s a great reminder to explore options like online billing for utility accounts with companies such as SGI, SaskTel, SaskPower, and SaskEnergy to avoid delays on important communications and payments.
